The sales packaging consists of more than 40% Silphie-fibers and is used for food contact. The box works without mechanical gluing and due to the Silphie-paper it offers maximum strength and stability, requiring less material simultaneously. For this purpose, the Silphium energy crop is used in a multi-stage cascade.
Through a steam explosion process, high-quality natural fibers, comparable to wood pulp, are separated without any chemicals and using just a small amount of water and energy before the production of biogas. Silphium has various environmental benefits: insect-friendliness, less pesticides/herbicides requirement, protection against erosion, carbon sequestration and humus build-up.
